Julie is a freelance makeup artist and hair stylist with over 15 years experience working with celebrity clientele as well as in commercial print, fashion, video and film. During that time she also was co-owner of J2 Photo Productions where her responsibilities included, hair & makeup, styling, photo assisting, all administrative tasks, production coordination, creative direction, and grip work.

With a change in direction after medical issues with her business partner, J2 was forced to close their doors. With a resent move to Southern California she found herself back at square one and the need to quickly become social media savvy.

Her territory has now expanded to the entire Southwest region, regularly serving clients in AZ, CA, NV, TX and New Mexico.  Since she has successfully raised her two children and they are on their own pursuing their careers, she now has the freedom to expand on her own talents.

Being raised on a farm in Iowa and being number seven of eight kids she has learned a lot about working as a team and adapting to almost any situation.  She brings a down to earth attitude and a wealth of life experience to every set. She moved to the AZ desert and the life of cattle ranching during her teen years and stayed in AZ through 2013. She never expected her days working in the field, being around horses and cows, riding motor cycles and snow mobiles would come in handy being a makeup artist but it has.

Her love for makeup really started as a senior in high school where she was President of Distributer Clubs of America (DECA) and worked retail as a Cosmetics Dept. Manager and later advanced into direct sales for Physicians Formula Cosmetics where she won top honors in the country for her sales and account management skills. During her sales career she was trained in public speaking for product knowledge and makeup application technics for live demonstrations.

After a break in her career to raise her two children she entered into the field of Freelance.  Being on set with her young children sparked a huge interest to enter this field and she has loved every minute of it.  With an obsession for detail and a passion for her art she works just as hard at making the talent feel beautiful and confident on the inside as on the outside and assuring them they are ready to be in front of the camera.

Her reputation quickly grew as she worked with many of Arizona’s leading photographers and film crews.  As one of Arizona’s top make-up artist her clients include many of the most influential names in Arizona and the country.

The great depth of knowledge acquired working on movie sets, video productions, and still shoots has sharpened her skills for dealing with the details of production coordination and time management. She is able to quickly identify the clients’ needs and efficiently coordinate all elements of a production.

It is her vivacious personality, on-set rapport and make-up technique that has gained Julie great respect as a make-up artist and hair stylist.
